Sookmyung Women’s University invited members of the France–Korea Parliamentary Friendship Association of the French National Assembly to campus, creating a meaningful venue for academic and cultural exchange. During their visit, the delegation met with President Moon Si-Yeun Moon, Chun Seh-jae, Dean of International Affairs, and Jeong Sang-hyun, Head of the Dept. of French Language & Culture, to explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation. They also took part in a special roundtable discussion with students.

The visiting delegation included, Sabrina Sebaihi (President, LE–EELV, Green Party), Aurélien Lopez-Liguori (Vice President, RN, National Rally), Anne Genetet (Vice President, ENS, Ensemble), Aurélien Saintoul (Vice President, LFI, La France Insoumise), Raphaël Page, Parliamentary Attaché. Representatives from the French Embassy in Korea also joined the visit, including Aurélia Dally, Political Counselor; Marguerite Bickel, Language and Sports Officer; and Kim Nayeon, Higher Education Cooperation Officer.

The event began with a tea reception of the university officials and the delegation, followed by a campus tour. The highlight of the visit was a student roundtable held at the AI Center, which brought together the four French parliamentarians, faculty members from the Dept. of French Language & Culture, and more than 30 Sookmyung students.

In the lively discussion, students and parliamentarians exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the role of the France–Korea Parliamentary Friendship Association, parliamentary diplomacy, the functions of national assemblies and their members, France’s foreign policy, and Korea–France relations. Students actively engaged in dialogue, asking insightful questions and sharing their perspectives.

Sookmyung Women’s University currently maintains formal exchange agreements with 27 universities in France and runs a variety of academic and cultural programs based on these partnerships. This visit served to further strengthen the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Dean Chun Seh-jae remarked,“Today’s roundtable offered students a meaningful opportunity to speak directly with French parliamentarians and cultivate the qualities of future global leaders. In an era where women’s leadership is increasingly emphasized, Sookmyung will continue to pave new paths for nurturing talented women and fostering international cooperation through its global networks.”
