Sookmyung Women’s University is running the ‘Sookmyung X Harvard Global Program’ with Youngone Corporation for approximately two weeks, from January 19 (Mon) to January 30 (Fri), in and around Boston, United States.

Now in its third year, the program is designed to give students firsthand exposure to cutting-edge research environments by visiting some of the world’s leading universities and research institutions, while also fostering experience in global research collaboration. Participants will visit Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as the Broad Institute—a biomedical research center jointly established by Harvard and MIT—and the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC).

At the program’s launch ceremony, President Moon Si-yeun stated, “To move forward into a wider world, it is essential to gain overseas experience with an open perspective,” adding, “I hope that students will study abroad with an active and enterprising attitude, learn and engage extensively, and return with a deeper sense of growth.”

In line with strengthening AI-based interdisciplinary research capabilities, the Student Career Development Team has organized this year’s program around AI convergence. During their stay, students will attend special lectures and seminars on cutting-edge research topics such as artificial intelligence and neuroscience, and will receive specialized mentoring from experts in the field.

The program also includes local community service activities, such as participating in meal programs for people experiencing homelessness, enabling students to cultivate not only academic expertise but also global citizenship and a sense of social responsibility.

This initiative is one of Sookmyung Women’s University’s flagship industry–academia cooperation–based educational programs and is operated with the continued support of Youngone Corporation, a leading Korean apparel company. The university plans to further expand cooperation with prestigious overseas universities and research institutions, taking the lead in nurturing globally competitive talent in AI and advanced interdisciplinary fields.
