The university held a midterm exam snack distribution event for the first semester of the 2026 academic year on Tuesday, April 7, at Sunheon Square on campus, sharing messages of encouragement with students ahead of their exams.

At the event, President Moon Si-yeun and members of the university administration personally handed out snacks to a total of 1,200 students in celebration of the university’s 120th anniversary. Adding special meaning to the occasion, Kwon Ik-seop, an executive director of the poultry company “Farmers” and a parent of a freshman from the Class of 2026, donated 1,200 smoked eggs and 1,200 smoked quail eggs.

Even before the event began, many students gathered at the venue, forming long lines and showing strong interest. Despite the tension of the upcoming exam period, the campus was filled with a warm and supportive atmosphere.

Notably, the event drew attention for operating without providing disposable plastic bags. As instructed in advance, students brought eco-bags or backpacks to carry their snacks—such as smoked eggs, smoked quail eggs, and yogurt—naturally taking part in reducing single-use waste.

Amid growing concerns over packaging supply due to rising global oil and raw material prices, the university’s initiative to curb plastic bag use even in everyday events attracted significant media attention, with major domestic news outlets visiting campus to cover the story.

Eom Ri-won (Advertising & Public Relations, Class of 2025), who participated in the event, shared, “The snacks prepared for us during the exam period are a great source of support. It felt even more meaningful because the event also considered the environment.”

A university official stated, “We organized this event to provide practical encouragement to students ahead of the exam while also promoting a culture of environmental protection in daily life. We will continue to build a meaningful campus culture together with our Sookmyung community.”
