Sookmyung Women's University's Career Plus Center hosted the "2026 Information Security Talent Development Program" in partnership with Microsoft from Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, at the university's Renaissance Hall.

The program was designed to cultivate security experts with hands-on expertise at a time when the growing sophistication of generative AI, deep learning, and cloud technologies has made information security increasingly critical. A total of 39 participants took part, including 25 current students and 14 local youths.

Participants gained firsthand experience of corporate security operations, learning how to respond to hacking threats and manage security systems. The program also featured cloud security exercises using Microsoft's cloud platform, Azure.

Special lectures by industry professionals were held as well. Park Jung-chul, CISO of the AI security firm WINS, along with Director Lee Ju-hyung and Kim Min-jung, a manager at the security company SK Shieldus, shared industry trends and job insights to help participants plan their careers and better understand the field.

Kim So-jung, a student in the Department of Computer Science (Class of 2025), said, "This program helped me a great deal by allowing me to learn cloud services like Azure systematically from the ground up," adding, "The lectures by working professionals gave me a valuable chance to think seriously about careers in this field."

The Career Plus Center has run the information security program in partnership with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry for four consecutive years. Reflecting strong student demand for security education, the center plans to continue the program next year while also offering a range of specialized programs such as bio-pharmaceutical QA/QC and semiconductor process training. Sookmyung has been recognized for its career and employment support capabilities, earning an "Excellent" rating for 10 consecutive years in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's evaluation of Career Plus Centers.

Son Seo-hui, director of the Career Plus Center, said, "As digital technologies such as generative AI, cloud computing, and deep learning grow more advanced, expertise and practical skills in information security are becoming ever more important. I hope this program helped Sookmyung students and local youths understand the field of information security and give concrete shape to their career paths."
